North Ridge Retreat – Tim Brown Architecture

If you were an architect with a young family and 10 acres of property west of Austin, what kind of home would you design for yourself? The answer: the North Ridge Retreat. Straightforward with simple interior finishes, this getaway home was designed by Austin-area architect Tim Brown who desired to make the home as energy efficient as possible. Green features include orienting the home to take advantage of cross ventilation, generous use of clerestory windows to vent heat, and the use of rainwater collection as a water source.
